Impotence drug triggers Hearing Impaired

The men who take anti-impotence drug in the long term to be reminded of the dangers of hearing loss. The results of this study concluded from a study of 11 525 men aged above 40 years who consume anti-impotence drug class phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE-51).

Anti-impotence drugs using PDE-51, among others, the drug sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra).

In 2007, the U.S. food and drug agency (FDA) announced its anti-impotence drug manufacturers to list the side effects of hearing loss in the label. This new rule was issued after several cases of hearing loss after taking the drug class of PDE-51.

Epidemiological experts from the University of Alabama, Professor Gerald McGwin, recently published the results of epidemiological studies about the link between drug PDE-51 with hearing loss. Epidemiology is the study which relates the distribution of the disease or condition in a population that may be related to certain factors.

The study did not find a direct link between the drug-PDE 51 with a hearing loss, but was shown a link between the two. The study found that several other conditions that may lead to hearing loss.

'Although there are limitations of this study, but patients who take anti-impotence drugs are asked to pay attention to signs and symptoms of decreased hearing function. Immediately seek medical help to prevent disorders that are permanent, "said McGwin.

PDE-51 was originally created to treat pulmonary hypertension, but is now widely used to treat erectile dysfunction. McGwin says there may be biological mechanisms of how these drugs cause hearing loss.

"How it works PDE-51 in patients with impotence were increased blood flow to certain tissues in the body. There were allegations of possible effects on the membrane at the same hearing. Increasing the blood circulation in the ear can cause hearing loss indeed," he said.

Boy Killed due Stunning Dental Filling

LOS ANGELES – Jacobi Hill (six) died. He died after undergoing procedures for installing crown (crown) of artificial teeth in dental clinics owned by Virginia Commonwealth University, Tuesday (11/05/2010). According to his grandmother, Corolyn Suggs, when the doctor was putting the crown gear, Jacobi had a heart attack and died. In a statement, the university said it was doing in-depth investigation and autopsies to find the cause of death was shocking. “The procedures for anesthesia during the operation was appropriate dental and health workers also directly comes soon after a heart attack,” he said.

Installation of crown gear teeth are often carried out if the doctor is so damaged that they can not be filled with small patches. In this procedure, doctors will remove the damaged teeth and prepare teeth for crowns wrapped fake. The process of filling teeth with crowns dentures done to prevent infection. However, this procedure can make children irritable and uneasy. This certainly will complicate the doctor so that sometimes the dentist injecting a local anesthetic.
A study said the drug propofol is used more than 25 433 dental procedures in children, but the majority get the drugs for the inspection of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
Approximately 6 percent of anesthetic procedures cause complications, but very rarely the cause of death. The experts suspect, the use of propofol anesthesia in children is often exaggerated. “Actually there is another method that can be used,” said Dr. Lonnie Zeltzer, child anesthesiologist at the University of California, Los Angeles. In general anesthetic is not allergic. “Statistically, it is extremely rare harmless complication of anesthetic procedures,” Zeltzer said. However, he asserted, there is the possibility of individuals who are hypersensitive response to the drug.

The results, published in the journal Anesthesia and Analgesia mention, since the year 1998-2004, there are 193 recorded cases of heart attacks in children when they’re drugged.
Dr. Eduardo Fraifeld, President of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, said the duty anesthesiologist not only determine the appropriate dose to make someone unconscious and pain-free, but must also constantly monitor the vital signs during surgery. “Doctors also need to monitor anesthesia breathing, heartbeat, patient’s response to the stimulation, the wasted blood, urine expenditure, and monitor medication. Many things must be supervised at a time,” said Fraifeld.

Therefore, there is a standard procedure before making the medical action is to do informed consent, provide a description of actions to be taken including the risks, and seek approval of the patient / family. Also, ask what medications taken in the near future to detect drugs that can interact with anesthetic drugs. If there is any doubt, the blood of patients need to be examined to determine the remaining drugs.

Vaginal Gel Blocks HIV

Various tests conducted scientists to create a vaginal cream that can fend off the HIV virus, ended in failure. Now the experts had been due the middle of testing a drug used to treat HIV as a prevention drug, in ways embedded in vaginal gels and vaginal contraceptive ring shape.
Way similar to the method of drug to freshen breath or allergic drugs, but was applied in the vagina. Drug that was later given the name of microbicides will be mainly marketed in developing countries, because usually the men are lazy to use a condom.
For two decades, scientists have been struggling to create HIV-prevention drug that is strong enough. Early studies was tested on women in South Asia such as the vaginal gel containing the AIDS drug tenofovir, but the new result will be known next July.

Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) is a revolution in the treatment of AIDS, so that a person with HIV can live longer. These drugs also reduce the risk of virus transmission from pregnant women to their babies. Therefore the experts assess if the drug is consumed every day can give the effect of prevention, either in men or women.

Dozen research has also been done on the vulnerable population of people infected. Usually the drugs used dalah tenofovir because it has lower side effects than other antiretroviral drugs.
The problem is, every day of taking the drug can result in resistance (drug resistance), especially when someone forgot to take her medicine. This has sparked controversy.
Research on HIV prevention gel actually started in 1994. At first, scientists know that the cells on the surface of the vagina is not the initial target HIV because the virus rapidly into the cell layers.

Studies in monkeys showed a small population of cells “compiler” that produces signs several days before the virus ready to spread. Drugs such as tenofovir inhibits HIV infection despite multiply into the body.According Dr.Salim Abdool Karim, of the Centre for AIDS Programme of Research of South Africa, the concentration of tenofovir in the vaginal tissue will be higher when administered with gel rather than pills.

Learning from the success of contraception, are now experts who develop tenofovir in other methods, which are easily dissolved into the vaginal lining, so you will not see couples. In addition it also made the vaginal ring are coated so that it can survive long tenofovir. Available also for gay men, in the form of tenofovir for the rectum.
